Post Surgery and MSNU

Aurelie had her second surgery on February 15th. It was an exploratory procedure where the surgeons looked at all of her intestines to see if there were any blockages or narrowing of the bowel. It turned out that Aurelie had 30cm of extremely dialted small intestine, and 5cm of narrowing.

During the procedure, she had 35cm of intestines taken out, and did not require a G-tube in the end! The surgeon reassured us that she still has lots of intestines and should not have any further complications.

Post surgery, she was given fentanyl and tylenol for pain, and was quickly weaned off. She still had a lot of bile that would accumulate through her NG tube. Some days she would have over 120mls of bile in a 24h period. Over time, the amounts decreased and we were finally moved upstairs to our own private room!

We are so happy to finally be staying by her side day and night. She has started feeds and is getting 5mls of milk every 4 hours. She has not had a bowel movement in a couple of days, but the surgeons expect her bowel to have slow motility. This could contribute to why she has not been having regular movements (but she has been passing gas!!! yay)

Thank you to all that have sent us positive vibes and prayers. We are impatiently waiting on the day we get to bring her home.
