About Us

Nicole and Ricki

Welcome to our blog page where we will be posting about our journey in and out of appointments after finding out our yet to be born daughter has Gastroschisis. We will also be posting about her journey in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the IWK, and then at last bringing her home in the near future (2018).

Ricki and I met when we were in high school. We have grown together and apart over the past 7 years. We were each others first love and were so thrilled when we found out we would be adding a member to our family! It was a surprise and the timing was good as Ricki had just finished school and was in the process of opening his own massage therapy clinic. On the other hand, I was not done school and still had a year left before graduating at St-Thomas University in the study of Criminology. We knew it would be challenging for me to finish school, but that it would be manageable and possible due to the amazing support we have from family and friends. We found out at 4 weeks that we were pregnant and her due date was January  28th 2018. It wasn't until our 21 week ultrasound that we found out about her health condition that would change our expectations of how things would occur during pregnancy and after her birth. If you would like to learn more about what Gastroschisis is and what our journey looks like, you can follow our blog!
